Blast | ACT AustraliaBlast is a sturdy and discerning little literary magazine from Australia. Published biannually, it aims to provide space for high quality contemporary poetry and critical writing.Blast is serious about poetry and the magazine has already built a reputation for publishing poetry of the first rank. Blast does not set themes. The poems in Blast are varied in subject and form – from traditional through to experimental. Submissions Blast publishes poetry and other critical writing, by Australian poets and writers. Work submitted to Blast should NOT have been published previously in print form in Australia and should not be under consideration elsewhere. Copyright remains with the writer but Blast should be acknowledged as first publisher. Please submit work as a single attached Word document to: blastpoetry [at] gmail [dot] com We strongly prefer electronic submissions, but we accept hard copies if email is not possible. Blast accepts submissions throughout the year - our deadlines are January 31 for the March issue and July 31 for the October issue. Please send no more than six poems for consideration per issue. Before submitting prose, we advise that you email us with a short description of the work. The approximate length of accepted prose is 2000 words (longer by negotiation). Blast seeks to publish high quality critical writing that focuses on cultural, historical and political issues, or literary criticism of a general nature (not reviews of specific books). |
